• The recession that started after 9/11 is still looming. Hence, corporate America is cutting jobs to reduce costs. Their inexperience and poorly-written business plan fail to impress the lenders and as a result, a person’s dream of working for oneself, remains a dream. On the other hand, when you buy a franchise, your franchisor either provides you with third-party loans or is registered as small business franchise. Some franchisors also help by drafting a killer business plan. Whatever it is, when lenders see an experienced franchisor behind a novice franchisee, they become more willing to grant the loan.

• There are so many franchise opportunities out there that finding one that suits your interests is not a difficult job.

• The demand for certain types of service franchise concepts is at an all-time high. Since offices are in a cost-cutting mode, they are outsourcing many of their jobs. Hence, service franchises that offer employment, telecom consultancy or accounting and payroll jobs are witnessing a huge boost in their franchise business for sale offers. So, if you have been working in these lines for quite some time, then now is the time to cash in that experience and skill to start a business of your own.

• Another booming sector is the senior care industry. With 70 million baby boomers set to retire from 2010, they will need full-time non-medical care in the coming years. So, if you have leadership qualities or managed a team of workers as a part of your job, let that work for your benefit now. Moreover, most of these franchise concepts are low cost franchises while many are also home based franchises.

The outsourcing of traditional departments (HR, Technology, Accounting) has been a growing trend. While outsourcing of marketing and PR services to agencies has always suited large businesses, the emergence of marketing franchises has only recently let smaller companies take advantage of the trend.
