Franchise & Business Opportunity News

Welcome to the Middle Ageless

Written on December 17th, 2007 by Ryan Lee in Franchise Industry.

There’s no denying that Baby Boomers are a potent force in American life. A nice article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel detailed just how potent a force. And just as they’re transforming life, they’re transforming the franchising industry.

Of course, franchising has long been an industry that welcomes the ideas from those corporate America would say are nearing retirement age. Ray Kroc was in his 50s when McDonald’s took off and Col. Sanders was 65 when Kentucky Fried Chicken was born. And its some of that same attitude in corporations that are pushing Baby Boomers into franchising.

The Journal-Sentinel article detailed how many of these Baby Boomers still consider themselves as having something productive to offer in their careers. But you’ve probably noticed in places where you’ve worked these people are being gently nudged out the door, or enticed with a hefty buyout or just plain shoved in a corner and ignored. Because Baby Boomers still view themselves as viable they’re more willing to venture out onto their own and finally live the dream of owning their own business. And because man of them are sitting on a pile of wealth that they’ve saved — or inherit some of the estimated $40 trillion that will pass from their parents — they’ve also got the means.

No matter what demographic you fall into, brandEXPANSION can help you determine the right franchise concept for you. We represent more than 400 concepts in 45 categories. If you’re not sitting on a hefty buyout or inheritence (or if you don’t want to tie it all up in a business), brandEXPANSION can help you obtain franchise financing.
